Not In My School, These Moms Say

Nine (9) moms have collectively filed a lawsuit, being represented by Alliance Defending Freedom, to remove Critical Race Theory from their schools. The lawsuit came as a response to the Ablemarle County School District mandating Critcal Race Theory replace the current curriculum.

Critical Race Theory erroneously teaches black people are inherently inferior to white people and that white people have to apologize for being white. It also erroneously teaches black people are victims of race with no way out unless white people give up their belongings and only hire black people for jobs.

Additionally, Critical Race Theory erroneously teaches that every aspect of life, from going to the grocery store, to something as banal as choosing a movie on a streaming platform, is a racially motivated decision.

Civil Rights Activists Decry Critical Race Theory

Notable civil rights activists such as Martin Luther King Jr.'s niece Dr. Alveda King, decry Critical Race Theory as racist. And, as Dr. Alveda King explains in an Op-Ed for Fox News, the origin of the idea of "critical race" is rooted in white supremacy and darwinian evolution.

In addition to Dr. Alveda King, the Black Leadership Network also decries Critical Race Theory as racist and an inaccurate view of American history. They further assert it harms Black Americans the most.

Stacy Washington, the co-chairman of Project 21 of the Black Leadership Network, called Critical Race Theory a cancer that is a false black history.

She stated:

Critical Race Theory is like cancer, metastasizing over the American cultural landscape. The remedy is eradication through a focus on true black history. Black Americans have made rich historical contributions beyond slavery and the peacefully-executed Civil Rights Movement. True black history connects us to our past and each other, while CRT only divides us and leaves destruction in its wake.

The Black Leadership Network also released a primer on Critical Race Theory that explains the erroneous theory and how it would impact Black Americans.

In replacement for Critical Race Theory, Dr. Alveda King proposes abandoning the focus on race altogether and instead highlighting the successes of Black Americans in addition to the south's racist past. In other words, to teach all Americans, no matter their skin color, an accurate, complete history of the United States that highlights everything that all of us, as citizens, have contributed.

She says the sooner people realize race is a societal construct and that there is just one human race, America will continue to promote racism and segregate itself. We all need to come together and realize it is the character of our hearts, not the color of our skin, that matters.
