After much controversy surrounding how the American public finally was told the people who control their banks and the whole economy can own stocks in whatever they want, the SEC is banning policymakers like those in the Federal Reserve from owning single stocks.
Of course, this wasn't some generous and jovial moment where government employees decided they would have the American public's back. No. Instead it was brought about through humiliation, viral content, and a national conversation about how our government officials regularly take advantage of the American public and abuse their positions of power to push policies that make them millionaires.
So the SEC finally decided to make what's fair, fair, and if they are going to punish 20,000 Redditors for harmlessly investing together in the stock market, they will punish federal officials who do it too. Of course, the major difference is, the members of Wall Street Bets didn't have the power to completely ruin the whole economy with a single edict, which is why many are calling for the abolishment of central banks.
But this leads us to Nancy Pelosi. The woman's husband has had an impeccable last 2 years with the stock market. I mean, the man has barely missed. His firm has out predicted some of the top investment firms in the world. He's been doing so well, in fact, that Yahoo Finance has an article on which "Pelosi Stocks" to pick.
Yes, that's right. The media is flaunting her ability to pick winners. But, I'm sure there's absolutely Nothing fishy going on here. . . nothing at all.
If you think I'm being hyperbolic or making "fake news," here is the actual article:
The trades of the Pelosi family involving Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) have become especially controversial since retail traders who have large social media platforms closely follow the trading activity of the politician and analyze it in context of larger developments. For example, Pelosi became the subject of a meme after it was revealed that Paul, her husband, had exercised CALL options to buy 4,000 shares of Alphabet just before an antitrust vote involving the firm in the House Judiciary Committee, making about $5.3 million in the process.
Hmm. How lucky of him. I'm sure he knew absolutely NOTHING about how the vote was likely going to go. You know, considering his wife is basically running Congress and all. It's probably just a lucky guess. Total coincidence.
I guess it must also have been a coincidence that every stock he has picked has risen exponentially since he picked it. Once again this isn't fake news. In fact, the CEO of Iris commented on how Paul Pelosi consistently beats the stock market in another Yahoo Finance article:
Though Nancy Pelosi herself doesn't trade stocks, her husband does. And that's enough for some social traders, who see his trades as hers. "We've been tracking their performance and every single stock she has bought in the last two years has gone up significantly," Christopher Josephs, cofounder of Iris, told Yahoo Finance Live. Iris is a social investing app allowing users to see the same stocks friends, influencers and professionals are buying.
. . .
"The reason why Speaker Pelosi became so popular was because every trade she was making inevitably turned out to be such a long-term winner," said Josephs.
"Albeit the entire market has gone up significantly, but these are very, very risky bets because she's been buying LEAP options as opposed to just stock," added Josephs.
So, the question lingers. Will the SEC look into Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress for their extraordinary wealth and lucky picks? Will they pore over her finances, her phone conversations, and her electronic communications to see if she engaged in insider trading?
Will they prosecute her and spend billions of taxpayer dollars like they did with President Trump?
Let's hope so. All we know is there's already confrontations on it. There's been documentaries on it. And now the public is outraged about it. Let's hope something happens, though it is unclear it anything will be done at all.
