As of March 25, 2021, 18,000 minors have been arrested for crossing the border alone, the highest the number has been in years, The Epoch Times reports. The number reportedly jumped 750 per day as minors continue to pore across the southern border.
But it isn't just minors, The Epoch Times also reports that in February Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) captured more than 100,000 people trying to illegally enter the U.S.
While a lax strategy to deal with the influx of people is certainly a contributing factor of the strain at the border, it is not the main reason. In fact, the main reason is people coming to America to get free stuff paid for by you and me via wealth redistribution through our tax dollars.
According to a study by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), 63% of illegal immigrants are using the welfare system, compared to just 35% of American citizens. This rather lengthy list of freebies paid courtesy of you and me includes DACA, food assistance, public housing, free emergency care, and more.
Perhaps the most infuriating type of welfare found in America for illegal immigrants is the Earned Income Tax Credit, which, according to CIS, allows illegal immigrants to PAY ZERO DOLLARS IN FEDERAL INCOME TAX. Yeah, you read that right. People come to this country illegally, flaunting our laws, don't respect the borders, and then they don't even pay any taxes once they get here. But, of course, our mandated tax dollars go right toward making sure they get all the "luxuries" such as a roof over their head and food in their stomach, and healthcare that you and I are forced to pay for. We basically pay for these people's lives.
The real reason so many are coming across the border is because of a bloated welfare state that gives people who break the law free stuff while punishing hardworking Americans for it by Robin Hooding them.
CBP has been telling people for years that a common strategy to get into the country and get all that free welfare is to send your child in beforehand and then move in after them so you can get access to food stamps and other benefits.
So, if we want to really end illegal immigration, we need to cut off the "spicket of goodies," as Ben Carlson called it, and make welfare nonexistent for illegal immigrants. That would significantly curtail the amount of illegal immigrants coming into the country and force the ones here to begin paying taxes and join what the rest of us do.
And don't think legal immigrants are taking too kindly to this situation either. Sergio de la Peña, a legal immigrant who came to this country and worked his way up from the dirt floors he grew up on in Mexico to becoming a Trump appointee who was tapped by Trump to the Pentagon, thinks all the free social benefits given to illegal immigrants punishes people who come to this country in search of the American Dream and treats legal immigrants, like him, who work so hard to come in the right way, unfairly.
"I grew up on dirt floors in Mexico," Sergio told The Washington Gazette in a statement. "I came to America because I wanted a better life. I did things the right way, and there are millions like me who love this country and come here to make a difference," he said.
Sergio continued, "I worked hard to come into this country. I worked hard to achieve the American dream, and I want others to have the same opportunity as me. Allowing illegal immigrants to the front line and rewarding them with free benefits sends the wrong message. It says 'Americans' citizenship is not important. Americans don't matter, and your hard work just goes to someone else's pocket,'" he said.
Sergio is now is running for governor of Virginia to keep the American Dream he found in this country alive for Virginia's children and their grandchildren.
Legal immigrants, unlike their illegal counterparts, don't come here for goodies. They come here for the same reason Sergio did, in search of a better life in the best country in the world. And most of them find it. They don't come for welfare checks and free goodies. But illegal immigrants do. And one way to cut off 63% of them is to end freebies for being illegal.
If, right now, 63% are getting welfare benefits (not to mention being treated like kings in so-called "sanctuary" cities for illegal immigrants), then the biggest deterrent would be to remove these benefits and protections. That way there would be absolutely zero benefit for trying to come into the country illegally and a dozen reasons to stay out.
